Cathy'S Corner: T Minus 6 Days

August 26, 2016

“At the last moment she thought, I'm not ready.

But she already knew the answer to that.

Nobody was ever ready.”  L.J. SmithSecret Vampire

I’m sure you’re busy getting the kids ready for school, which is sort of like preparing for a rocket launch. With T minus 6 days to go, here's a handy checklist. (Or not).

•   Engaging calendar and carpool. Two boys doing two different sports at two different locations at the same time. Need 3 of me. Seriously crazy.

•   Shifting to earlier sleep schedule. No more sleeping late. What?

•   Verifying teacher assignments. Nice or strict? Who’s in the same class? Crosscheck and discuss with other worried parents until phone blows up.

•   Obtaining supplies and provisions. Paper, pencils, calculator, backpack. Buying 2 of each item since we’ll lose or break something the first week.

•   Purchasing wardrobe. New sneakers, underwear, pants. Get bigger sizes as they will be outgrown quickly.

•   Checking haircuts. Older child already took care of this, but younger child needs a serious bushwhacking. Cannot see his eyes. This poses a potential problem.

•   Finishing summer reading and other assignments. Almost done. Might need to lock kids in their rooms the night before.

Hope you enjoy this final week of summer. Remember to savor every last bite. It goes so darn fast. Cathy
