OPEN HOUSE: Buck's Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp, May 21st

By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Greater Danbury, CT May 6, 2022

Buck’s Rock Camp is a freedom-of-choice creative and performing arts camp in New Milford for teenagers ages 10 to 17. Every summer at Buck’s Rock is completely different. The campers who attend each year make the summer their own adventure, and the camp constantly evolves and changes to meet the needs of that year’s campers. So to answer the question “What is Buck’s Rock?” is simple: it is a safe space where young people can grow into whatever they want and need to be.

OPEN HOUSE

Buck's Rock will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 21st from 1-3PM. This is a great opportunity to tour the campus and see for yourself what makes Buck's Rock Camp so special to so many!

"Buck's Rock is more than just a camp, it's a place where you don't have to worry about anything: the clothes you wear, being the best athlete, actor, singer, etc... When I auditioned for one of the plays, I was really nervous, but during my audition I met new friends who auditioned with me and when we messed up we would laugh about it afterwards. Buck's Rock is not just another camp, it's a place where you can make great friends and have a lot of fun." ~ Camper, Age 11

WHAT TO EXPECT EACH DAY AT BUCK'S ROCK
The day at Buck’s Rock starts at 7:30am and ends at 10:15pm. What happens in between is as varied as the campers and as friendly as the beautiful campus. Every day at Buck’s Rock is a new opportunity for self-discovery and creative expression. From the professionally-equipped studios and exciting performance spaces, to the state-of-the-art recording facilities and pool, campers are free to try anything and everything! Over 30 world-class programs await young artists every day, including everything from glassblowing to dance to painting to sketch comedy to radio to weaving to gardening and so much more! Every day at Buck’s Rock is different. What doesn’t change: its stunning pastoral setting, committed, professional counselors, and a camper-to-counselor ratio of 2:1.

CAMP IS NOW MORE AFFORDABLE

Buck’s Rock Camp is now operating with a tiered tuition system which makes camp more affordable for many. The tuition due for your camper(s) is based upon your household size and gross combined annual income. See here for more details and to see pricing by tier.

"Buck's Rock perfects itself more every year! How it works its magic remains a mystery, but it all starts with the care, insights, and great instincts of the Buck's Rock team who create a summer experience of fun that is attuned to each camper's emotional and creative well being." ~ Parent of 13-year-old camper

"Buck's Rock played a huge part in the lives of my two nephews. In the summers they spent there, they fell in love with filmmaking, photography, guitar playing, and song writing. They kept developing these interests long after camp had ended. For this reason I think of Buck's Rock as more than just a fun summer camp. I think of it as a gateway into a life filled with creative discovery." ~ Aunt of 14- and 16-year old campers

Thank you, Buck's Rock, for the cool summer breeze that will always blow over me. Thank you for helping me give myself the best gift I ever got." ~  Counselor-in-Training, Age 17
