Got Teens? FRESH GREEN LIGHT Expands to New Canaan!

Innovative Parent Approved Driving School Opens 6th Location

May 17, 2019

FRESH GREEN LIGHT, an innovative, locally-owned driving school, is reinventing the way teenagers learn to drive with an approach that’s more relevant and effective for busy teenagers and parents today. In April, Fresh Green Light will began classes in New Canaan, Connecticut expanding its Fairfield County footprint to six locations.

Steve Mochel and his wife Laura Shuler, parents of four teenage drivers and residents of Weston, CT, created Fresh Green Light in 2009 after leaving corporate marketing jobs with a mission to make teen drivers safer behind the wheel and making the process professional and convenient for parents and students alike.

Since opening their first location in Rye, New York, the company has had almost 15,000 students go through their program and has been recognized as one of the most innovative small businesses in the U.S. by Entrepreneur Magazine.

“As parents, we instinctively worry and protect our children from the moment they are born,” says Mochel, who also serves as Company CEO. “Many parents don’t realize that getting behind the wheel of a car is the most dangerous situation their child will probably ever be in.”

Shuler added, “When our oldest son started to learn to drive, Steve and I noticed the curriculum and even the driving schools themselves hadn’t changed since the 1950’s. This sparked the idea for a more modern driver’s education experience that’s more engaging, convenient, and more effective for teens and parents today.”

In addition to being voted “Best Driving School” in the Fairfield Magazine Readers Poll in both 2018 and 2019, Fresh Green Light was named to the prestigious Inc. Magazine 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the US.

In New Canaan, Fresh Green Light will offer a state-of-the-art classroom at 111 Cherry Street as well as offering its signature high-tech, one-on-one driver’s education training with convenient home or school pick-up and drop off in New Canaan, online scheduling and detailed instructor feedback after each driving lesson.

Fresh Green Light also provide customers with their proprietary DriverTracker app (available for iPhone or Android ) that helps students and parents keep track of their required 40 hours of practice driving as well as provide scored feedback after each drive.
