PET OF THE WEEK: Callie

September 18, 2014

Callie was an owner surrender to NYACC. She was pulled hours before she was to be euthanized by a small rescue. The rescue found a nice foster home but sadly the rescue ran out of funding and could not provide training, food etc to the foster family. Callie was spending the majority of her days crated because the foster did not have enough time for her and Callie being a young pup had lots of energy and no manners. One of the volunteers with BBR learned of Callie’s situation and with the help of BBR was able to give Callie a loving foster home where she is learning to be the well mannered puppy she is now. Callie gets along with cats, kids over 8 (so she doesn’t knock the little ones down in play) and large dogs . Callie walks nicely on a leash and knows a few commands. While BBR has her we will continue training and socializing Callie. She is up to date on shots and spayed . Callie is estimated to be 1 yr and 3 months old.

Bully Breed Rescue Inc. is a volunteer and donation supported registered 501 (c)3, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs that are collectively referred to as Pit Bulls. "Pit Bulls" are the most controversial breed of our time; continually being maligned in the media, and commonly being abused and neglected in communities all around the country. While they are frequently categorized as vicious and dangerous, for anyone who knows the breed, this can't be any further from the truth. Our goal is to help give these precious misunderstood dogs a second chance at the wonderful life that they deserve by placing them in forever homes. All of our dogs have been temperament tested and we try to provide honest and complete information on each dog. We operate on public donations.  To adopt one of our adoptable bullies, an adoption application, home check, and references are required, along with an adoption fee of $200 dollars. Adoptions are based on interaction between the potential adopters and the dog. Our goal is to place a dog with the perfect family to ensure a forever loving home.
