Playtime at The Palace Brings the Magic of Live Performance to Kids

Family Time

January 12, 2017

Leave the iPads at home. Playtime at The Palace, the hit series of live performances geared toward children and families, returns to The Palace Theatre in Stamford on January 15, 2017 for a fun-filled season of puppeteers, bubble-makers, magicians and musicians. The four-show series runs select Sundays in January through March with performances at 3:00pm.

Playtime at The Palace kicks-off with Casey Carle’s BubbleMania on January 15. Dubbed “a true master of his craft” by Cirque du Soleil, Carle’s one-man show combines spontaneous comedy, jazzy music and brilliant bubbling. Carle delights audiences with fantastic fog-filled bubble sculptures, a cube bubble, funky foam, bubble ping-pong, trapping an audience member (or two) inside a gigantic soap bubble and thousands of bubbles filling the stage. I am giving away a family 4 pack of tickets to this. Please email me at catherines@macaronikid.com to enter by January 10. Must be a subscriber to enter!

On February 19, gravity forces are demonstrated and explained by Mr. Fish in his fast-paced and fun show with spinning ropes, an Australian bull roar, peacock feathers, a floating beach ball, a madcap plate spinning routine and more. Audiences learn how to do many of the circus skills shown in the program, including balancing, rope spinning and magic.

Jay and Ray: Music for Everybody heads to The Palace on March 12 with an energetic, silly and fun show rooted in play-based learning. Jay and Ray explore rhythm, melody and movement in a way that’s entertaining not only for children, but their parents as well.

The Playtime at The Palace series concludes with the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers’ Everybody Loves Pirates on March 26. Help eight-year old Lucy and her goofy pal Little Chucky search for buried treasure. Featuring fifteen handcrafted mouth and rod puppets and an 8-foot paper mache pirate ship.

“We are always looking for way to entertain, educate and enrich young audiences,” said Michael Moran, Executive Director of The Palace. “Playtime at The Palace gives children the opportunity to experience the joy and excitement of live performance — in some cases for the first time. These programs spark imagination and are the building blocks to a lifelong passion for the performing arts.”

The Palace is offering a “Buy More and Save” bundle for patrons interested in all four Playtime at The Palace shows. Individual tickets are $12.50 plus a $2.50 facilities and handling fee. The $50 “Buy More and Save” bundle includes a ticket to all four shows when purchased in a single transaction. The facility and handling fees for bundle tickets will also be waived.

Playtime at The Palace is made possible through the generosity of EY, a longtime supporter of arts programming around the world.
