I want to introduce you to Ali Dorfman and Ali Cammeyer, two fabulous, creative and hard-working moms who live in Fairfield County. After moving to CT from NYC and working busy jobs in finance (Ali C) and CBS News (Ali D) the two decided to start a personalized stationery and gift business called The Paper Alley.

Q: How and why did you start?

A: When we became friends a few years ago, we always talked about doing something together (and using our name Ali)! We wanted to be there for our kids when they got off the bus each day, but at the same time we wanted to do something fun and different. We talked about our love of personalized gifts, and how difficult it was to find the perfect thing you were looking for. Dorfman’s mother-in-law was in the invitation business so she gave us the inspiration. We also felt that the in-person experience was more effective than online shopping. Touching and feeling the products is key to our business model. And while everyone out there seems to be sending online invitations and thank you cards, we think paper is priceless and we want to bring it back! It’s a lost art and there's nothing better than getting a handwritten thank you note versus an email!

Q: What makes you guys unique and special?

A: We have curated a selection of unique products that are difficult to find. Instead of getting things from one vendor, we work with companies nationwide who all have specialized products. We have everything from stationery to trays to coasters to wine tags to gift tags. All of our items can be personalized and they are great hostess gifts, new mom gifts, teacher gifts, themed party gifts, holiday and birthday items for children or adults. We know it can be time consuming shopping on the Internet so we want to make it simple and easy. We also have been doing trunk shows around Fairfield County and it has been so amazing to connect with other working and non-working women in the area. What is better than mimosas, muffins and monograms!

If you’d like to check out their collection, visit them online or call them at 203.429.4405 to set up a private show or attend one of their events. Remember the deadline for ordering holiday gifts is the end of November!
