Cathy's Corner: Asking for Help?

September 23, 2016

“Somehow we've come to equate success with not needing anyone. Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It's as if we've divided the world into those who offer help and those who need help. The truth is that we are both.”
Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection..

I am always happy to offer a ride or extra help if anyone needs it, but then there are times when I also desperately need a hand - when the bus comes and I'm stuck in traffic, when both boys have to get to practice at the same time at opposite sides of town, or when I just need a break.

Being a parent is a constant juggle of planned logistics and uncontrollable factors. Some days, things just fall apart in spite of all the careful planning. Whether it’s a parenting question, help with the kids, or just needing a shoulder to cry on, it often takes a lot to ask for help. So here’s to us all getting the help we need and for those out there who may need some help but who are simply afraid to ask. I'd love to hear your stories  - because we're all in this together. What works for you?

Have a great week ahead. Cathy
