Teen Scene: New Video Gaming Center Opens in Norwalk

May 27, 2016

My teenager is obsessed with playing video games online, which means he’s alone upstairs in the attic playing Battlefront with real and virtual friends for hours. What if there was a physical space where kids could meet and actually play together, live and in person?

Enter Game Haven, a video gaming center and store where kids can hang out in a clean, safe, comfortable environment, control their playing time, try out new games and techniques without spending a lot, and even learn to code and create new games.

Located at 10 Cross Street in Norwalk, Game Haven sells snacks, drinks, and assorted merchandise but at its heart they offer a nice clean, space and an amazing social experience with daily events, monthly tournaments, charity fundraisers and game viewing parties. They even have a summer camp.

I got a chance to meet the owner Brent Goren, who is excited about all the great feedback he’s gotten so since he’s opened.  Kids love the idea and immediately gravitate to the new systems, jump into games with others, and make new friends. Parents have expressed to me peace-of-mind knowing that their kids are safe, having fun, and out of the house. They also really like how convenient and affordable it is to drop children off, run some errands, and pick them up an hour or two later. What makes me proudest is giving people what they want and making them happy.”

Brent is happy about giving back or getting involved in the community and recently partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network for the Extra Life Video Game charity and raised almost $200 for hospitalized children. They also did a food drive where they rewarded people for donating food with free game time.

So if you’re in the neighborhood and have a kid who enjoys video games, check out Game Haven. Let me know your thoughts.
